ODIA is an INDO-ARYAN language  spoken in the Indian state of ODISHA .It is the official language  in ODISHA .where native speakers make up 82% of the population and it is also spoken in parts of West Bengal,Jharkhand,Andhra Pradesh and CHATTISGARH.

The department of odia is one of the oldest departments of the college. The department of ODIA in Ispat Autonomous college was established in the year… The aim of the department is to strengthen the liberal education of students by developing a depended understanding of language and literacy .The value of critical reading and effective writing and the richness of Literature. Past andpresent  in an educationally tribal inhabited district of odisha .Currently there are three teaching facilities working in the department. DR. LaxmiMajhi is presently working as the Head of the department .MrsManishaSahoo and MsMamataSenapati working as a lecturer in odiadepartment.Thedept.ofodia has always tried to maintane the dignity of odia language among the students through dynamic and excellent teaching.The faculty members are known for their expertise in language (i.eDrama,Novel,Poetry,Shorts story),Medieval literature as well as ancient literature. Students strength are numerically high number out of the Total students.In +2 ,200 students taken odia  as a compulsory  subject and 75 students taken opt.odia. .Presently the sanactioned strength in Odia Hon’s is 48.
