Vision:

• To establish a platform for students to achieve excellence in academic endeavour and make them intellectually vibrant and socially   responsible citizens.
• To provide inspiring, enriching and effective programs of study in Physics.

Mission:

• To offer state of art academic curriculum in Physics.
• To foster curiosity and excitement about physics, its scope and applications.
• To motivate students to pursue higher education and encourage them for research work in physics or in related areas.
• To provide experimental skills to the students.
• To develop sensitivity among the students to contribute for the betterment of society.

Activities of the department

• The department of Physics conducts various activities for all round development of the students in addition to the usual teaching and learning process. Departmental Seminars are organized on a regular basis in which the honours students participate in large numbers and the students assigned for seminar talk deliver their talks on the topics related to physics and interdisciplinary areas by means of power point presentation / LCD projector/ Whiteboards etc. At the end of the seminar talks, the usual question and answer session are held which undoubtedly increase the level of understanding of the students with regards to the topics of seminars. The seminars are well attended by the faculties of the department along with its supporting staff.
• The department also undertakes study tour on a regular basis, but due to outbreak of COVID 19, study tour during the pandemic was hampered. The students along with some members of staff of the department had visited the physics department of central university of Rajasthan and Punjab University in the year 2019 while the students went on study tour to physics department of university of Hyderabad in the year 2018. Also experts from reputed institutes like NIT and different universities deliver talks on advanced topics on physics and its related areas, which are undoubtedly enriching experience for the students of our department.
• The lab sessions are organized in the department on the basis of the timetable allotted to different groups on weekly basis .The students are trained rigorously on the experimental methods which enhances their expertise on experimental skills. The entire activities are scrutinized and monitored by the Head of the department on regular basis. A conducive atmosphere is created in the department where the faculties, the supporting staff as well as the students of the department work coherently as one family.
