The department of Mathematics has been in existence 1981-82. The department started its journey with B.Sc. (pass) course under U.G. program affiliated to Sambalpur University. Subsequently with the sincere and dedicated efforts of its founder teachers in 1984-85 the department had started Honours Course with 16 seats and now the department has 32 seats. A graduate student with B.Sc. Mathematics Honours of this college can pursue academic courses like M.Sc., MCA, MBA, B.Ed. Also, the students can explore areas like actuarial sciences, banking, civil services, etc.
Students of this department exhibit good performance in JAM, CUET. The department has produced highly qualified and motivational mathematicians. Graduates of this department are distinctly placed in reputed institutions and organisation. Goal of the department is to inculcate in the students a desire to excel; to demonstrate originality and to develop a sense of responsibility towards the society. The department continuously reviews and monitors the curriculum of its academic programs, various activities like departmental seminar, workshop program takes place. The courses offered by department is three years B.Sc. Mathematics, the undergraduate syllabus was thoroughly revised time to time. Now the department is following the Model syllabus CBCS system.

Activities of the department
SEMINAR:
The department of Mathematics conducts seminar on regular basis. Monthly seminars are held in the department during the academic year. The speakers of the seminars are graduate students of the department. These seminars are usually consisting of a formal presentation which is followed by a questionnaire session that sometimes led to lively discussion.
Seminar provides a forum for exchange of ideas and for interactions among the teachers and students. Such exchanges are providing a convenient method for students to get to know other members of the department. All the graduate students should attend the Departmental Seminar and sign the seminar register.
The specific topic is generally both inside and outside the main course of mathematics department. So that the students actually learn something interesting.
Before the seminar date, the HOD of Mathematics notify students well in advance of the date and time for the seminar to be held, so that the students should prepare themselves for the seminar in advance of the scheduled presentation. Students are not only expected to give smooth and well-prepared presentation but also to be knowledgeable about the topic.
A student should work closely with their guide of the department. Visual aids are also prepared well in advance of the seminar presentation. The speaker should be in best position to answer many of the comments and questions raised during the discussion period.
EXPERT TALK:
For expert we organise a workshop in the department. The speakers of the workshop are the lecturer/professor export specific topic. The department students and the lecturers attain the lecture on the Workshop. The expert discussed on a specific topic with the help of presentation. He/ She Advise the students to develop an acute curiosity to comprehend the gaps in the real world and how they can fill the gaps Bye dear innovative areas and projects on the specific topic.
After the session the speaker wear neon handling the relevant queries coming from the students with regards to project ideas.
