Situated in the scenic green and environment friendly campus for students and faculty members of Ispat Autonomous College, Rourkela, the Department of Chemistry had started its activity with traditional B.Sc. course(in UG Level) in the academic session 1981-82. The Chemistry Department is located in ground floor, right wing of Science block.
Currently the Department has four vastly experienced, well-qualified and highly dedicated regular faculties and two demonstrators with academic backgrounds from top universities of Odisha .The Department of Chemistry is a dynamic, growing department with sanction strength of 120 students. The chemistry department is carrying out excellence in high-quality teaching. It offers CBCS core courses (for honours students) and General elective courses (For others) in UG level. The department has a seminar library where textbooks of various eminent authors are available to fulfill the requirement of the faculty members and students. The students are monitored and evaluated by regular class tests, seminars, assignments, mid and end-semester examinations.
The department of chemistry had organized national seminars on thrust areas of chemistry. A large number of students have qualified various entrance examination for their higher studies across the India.
The soul of the department is their teachers, who by virtue of their collective enthusiasm have been relentlessly giving their effort in generating good number of bright students starting from its year of establishment till date.
