ଇସ୍ପାତ ସ୍ୱୟଂଶାସିତ ମହାବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟ

Department of History was formed in Ispat Autonomous College in the year 1980-81 to impart higher studies among the students of this region. At present the students’ strength at UG level is 16. The students have done very well in the university examinations as well as in various competitive examinations. The Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) at the UG level was introduced from the session 2015-16 and subsequently the Odisha state model syllabus was implemented from the session 2019-20. The Departmental seminars have been conducted regularly on various topics of History, Culture, Archaeology, Historiography and other issues of current interest for the overall development of the students. Faculty members of the Department have undertaken research on different aspects of History and Archaeology of eastern India in general and Odisha in particular. They have presented their research papers in various national and international seminars, and also published several research articles in different journals and edited books of national and international repute.

The main objectives of the Department are to make the students good human beings, besides, imparting knowledge, develop rational thinking capacity and prepare them for different employment opportunities.
